Yalumba have been making some of the world’s most luxurious fortified wines since 1852, concentrating the essence of a grape’s flavour and nurturing it until it blossoms in maturity.
In the 1960s our winemakers decided to set aside small parcels of the very best Yalumba tawnies, for extended ageing in casks crafted by our own coopers. Each year the barrels set free a tiny percentage of their contents through evaporation – the angel’s share – and after two, three or even five decades the wines becomes rich and concentrated. They salute our tenacity, resilience and entrepreneurial spark throughout five generations of family winemaking.
