Born in Margaret River, Small Things Wine took an outsider’s point of view to winemaking when they developed their craft wine in can brand. They believed how you enjoy wine shouldn’t be limited by the container it comes in and as such, one chance to create a first impression. So they made the best wine they could in a 250mL can so that you can easily take it with you on a hike, to the beach, an outdoor event or on the boat… an excuse to start an adventure.
Showcasing their wines in a way that illustrated the unique nature began with the label that conveyed its quality. For winemaker and co-founder Ian Batt, how it felt in a customer’s hand was as equally important as it was eye catching and relevant. “…. Australian’s are adopting wine in can in greater numbers than ever before so creating the right first impression was so important for us and with the collaboration of our designer Jarrod Fuller at Zendoke and MCC we were able to achieve that. Our wines are low intervention with no additions or filtering and so the quality and readability of the label on our small cans was instrumental and the reason we decided on printed labels rather than printing directly onto cans. You can easily see when you pick one up, you’re not getting a regular wine, it’s something special, it’s made to take on adventures”.
