Herbert and Frederick Kay took possession of the Amery property in McLaren Vale in February 1891. The family continues traditional winemaking in the original stone cellars producing highly acclaimed wines.
The design brief was to embrace the brand qualities of rich textures and classic shapes and incorporating the Kay Brothers’ Griffin logo. The label draws the eye to the wines age, and to an original Amery vineyard illustration. Another unique design element was the use of Herbert Kay’s handwriting on the label – meticulously rebuilt by designer Benjamin Hunter from the original diaries kept by the family since 1891.
