The Clare Valley

Portfolio Categories: Conventional Print, Label of the Week, and Regional.

RockBare Riesling was designed to celebrate the best of the Clare Valley. The label brings to life the story of the region with clever use of illustrations and placement of the hand type.

The Jesuits who populated the region fleeing religious persecution from Selsia (now part of Poland) are said to have planted the first vines in 1851, a statement that features on the design. An illustration depicts a Jesuit admiring the fruit of his labour.

It’s a label with a lot going on. Top left is a copper disk celebrating the discovery of copper in the region in 1845. A sketch of a Diprotodon, a prehistoric giant wombat which has its origins in the surrounding Clare region is used to ‘catch the eye’ and is sure to promote discussion.
