Centare Vineyard is one of the most exciting new vineyard projects in Australia.
Located in the heart of the Yarra Valley, just outside Healesville and on the edge of the region’s ‘Golden Mile’ along the base of the Warramate Hills, the site has been selected for a unique, high density, ‘close-planted’ vineyard, for the production of ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot based wines.
Vines are being planted only 1 metre x 1 metre apart. The name CENTARE is in reference to a very rare and old-fashioned unit of area measurement, equivalent to one metre squared (1m2). A Centare is 1/100th of an ARE, where a Hectare is 100 ARES.
The illustration on the labels depicts the vineyard landscape, with Centare’s vigneron walking through the high density vineyard and the backdrop of the beautiful Yarra Ranges.
The inaugural ‘Old Block’ wine range has been produced from the existing vineyard, that was planted in 1998. The wines are elegant and enduring representations of classic regional varieties and the labels have been designed to reflect that class and style.
Brand and label design has been a collaborative project with graphic designer Brett Layton, Director of Two from Two www.twofromtwo.com.au in Perth.
